Listen to News about Sheffield Homes!

Visitors to the Sheffield Homes website can now listen to what is written there using a free tool called Browsealoud. Browsealoud is particularly useful for people with reading and learning difficulties, people with visual impairments and those whose first language is not English.

 

Browsealoud will make our website easier to use for a wide range of people. It’s just one of the tools we are developing to make our services more accessible for everyone.

 

You can download the Browsealoud software free from www.browsealoud.com. It is free to use and requires no registration. Once you have downloaded the software you simply go to any site that is speech enabled with Browsealoud and use your mouse or keyboard to select the text you want to be read aloud. It will read the text to you one sentence at a time. You can even customise the voice, pitch, speed and volume to your own preferences!

 

Browsealoud software was implemented in response to feedback from the Sheffield Homes Disabled Persons Monitoring Group.
