New facilities for young in Lansdowne - 30 October 2006
Young residents living in the Lansdowne area of Sheffield will soon have their own playground and new mini football pitch thanks to Sheffield Homes. The Central Area and Estates Team at Sheffield Homes are due to turn a piece of unused wasteland on Club Garden Road into a playground and are also planning to improve the existing kickaround pitch for youngsters in the area.
Housing Minister admires Sheffield's 7000th decent home - 26 October 2006
Deepcar tenant Linda Crosby marked a major milestone in Sheffield’s Decent Homes programme today, by showing off her newly improved home to the Minister for Housing and Planning, Yvette Cooper MP. Linda is the 7000th council tenant to receive Decent Homes works from Sheffield Homes, the organisation set up by Sheffield City Council to manage and improve local homes.
Sheffield Homes wins award for Leading the Way - 24 October 2006
Sheffield Homes has won a prestigious award from Remploy for its inclusion of people with disabilities and health conditions. Sheffield Homes was the only housing provider to be successful and has won the northern regional award in the ‘large employer’ section, beating off competition from other organisations in an area stretching from the Scottish borders to the Midlands. This is the second time that Sheffield Homes has won the award.
Tricky times at Halloween - 24 October 2006
Residents in Parson Cross, Foxhill and Herries can expect fewer tricks this year thanks to a new initiative by Sheffield Homes and local traders. The Trick or Treat initiative, which aims to reduce the number of ‘tricks’ on residents’ properties on Halloween, was so successful in Parson Cross last year that it is being rolled out to surrounding areas.

Residents at a Heeley sheltered housing scheme were so pleased with the recent renovation of their homes, they threw a party for the workmen! Kier Sheffield LLP completed a range of work at Cambridge Court as part of the Decent Homes scheme.
Sheffield Homes short-listed for UK’s Top Housing Award - 19 September 2006
Sheffield Homes has beaten off competition from hundreds of organisations to be short-listed for the country’s most prestigious housing accolade. The Company, which manages 48,000 homes on behalf of Sheffield City Council, has made the finals of the UK Housing Awards, in the ‘Excellence in Delivering Safer Neighbourhoods’ category.
Sheffield Homes bus tour is just the ticket for getting tenants on board - 19 September 2006
A bright yellow bus will tour Sheffield’s Hanover estate this Friday as part of a drive by Sheffield Homes to consult with black and minority ethnic (BME) tenants. The bus will be located near the children’s play area on the Hanover estate from 10am until early evening on Friday 22nd September. It will welcome tenants and residents from the Lansdowne, Leverton and Hanover estates.
Conference looks to create safer communities - 14 September 2006
Sheffield Homes and South Yorkshire Police joined forces to promote safer homes and neighbourhoods at a conference for council tenants, leaseholders and residents. Around 80 people attended the Sheffield Homes Residents Annual Conference to hear about what is being done to tackle anti-social behaviour and community safety issues across the city.
Customer survey captures views on housing service - 13 September 2006
Thousands of questionnaires will be distributed across the city this week as Sheffield Homes launches its annual Customer Satisfaction Survey. Around 5,000 customers are randomly selected to take part in the survey. Returned entries this year could win one of three £100 prize draws.
