Bands & Blooms Festival Is Back!
Sheffield’s community festival ‘Bands & Blooms’ returns this year and promises to be even bigger and better than ever!
The event, which aims to bring communities in the North of Sheffield closer together, has been a huge success in recent years with over 3,000 people visiting in just one day. This year it’s hoped the event will attract even more visitors as all proceeds raised will go to the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
This year’s activities will take place on Sunday 29 June 11am - 6.30pm at Angram Bank Pavilion, High Green. It is expected that 350 children from all over Yorkshire will attend. On the day, local residents will be treated to a host of shows and attractions including a fair, cheerleaders, music bands, Irish dancers and even a marshal arts display where the entertainers will be chopping up boards of wood with bare feet and hands.
The event is organised by local residents through Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs) from Angram Bank, Mortomley and Lane End (Area North Sheffield Alliance). Sheffield Homes is also providing support and advice for the event.
Paul Voyse, North Area Manager at Sheffield Homes said, “We are thrilled to be involved in Bands & Blooms again this year. This event has always drawn strong support from the local community in the North of Sheffield, so we are expecting this year to be no exception judging by the success of past years.”
Brenda Holmes, Chair of the Bands & Blooms Organising Committee and Mortomley TARA added, “The members of the three TARAs have worked really hard to pull this festival together and it is shaping up to be a glorious explosion of colour, singing and dancing.”
