Help to Shape Housing Services in Sheffield
Sheffield Homes was set up to manage, maintain and improve over 40,000 Council homes across the city. Since it was set up in 2004, Sheffield Homes’ has become one of the best performing housing organisations in the country.
To help keep it that way, the Company is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated and committed people to join its Board of Directors. This year there are vacancies for two Sheffield Council tenants and one independent representative to join the Board.
The commitment is for a few hours per month and those who are selected, will help to run a company that makes a difference to thousands of people’s homes, lives and neighbourhoods.
The Board makes decisions that will continually improve the city’s housing services and the standard of Council homes, overseeing the country’s biggest Decent Homes programme, worth around £669 million.
Directors attend Board meetings every month and work closely with the Company’s Executive Leadership Team and other senior staff.
John Loveless, who runs the Sheffield Homes Governance Team, said: “The Board of Directors provide us with strategic leadership, make key decisions and monitor performance.
“It’s important that applicants to these posts are genuinely interested in the communities they serve and are passionate about providing high quality services that reflect our customers’ needs and aspirations.
“We provide full training to Board Directors to help them manage their new role and responsibilities, as well as expenses such as travel or childcare.
“We are particularly trying to encourage applications from members of ethnic minorities, young people and women so that the diversity of the population we serve is reflected in the make-up of the Board.”
Sheffield Homes also have vacancies on several of its Area Boards.
