New Style Repairs Scheme Offers Flexibility for Tenants
Sheffield Homes will be rolling out a new and improved repairs programme next week following feedback from its customers.
The housing management organization, which manages 43,000 homes across the city on behalf of Sheffield City Council, will be trying out the new system following a successful trial in parts of North Sheffield.
The repairs scheme has been simplified to ensure that urgent jobs can be completed quicker whilst non-urgent jobs can be completed at a time to suit the customer. Repairs jobs will be classified under one of just four categories. Urgent repairs will be completed within a 24 hour time frame but a new feature is that customers will be offered appointments in two hour time slots. This delivers much more flexibility for customers leading to less cancelled or missed appointments.
Sheffield Homes recently undertook consultation with customers who had signed up to the Talk2 Sheffield Homes database to see what they thought of the new service. The consultation received an excellent 50% response rate and 92% of those who responded were in favour of the new service.
Bev Mullooly, Assistant Director of Investment at Sheffield Homes said; "We have had a really good response from our customers during the pilot and consultation stages for the new style repairs service. We are hoping that the scheme will be more efficient for us to run and also more flexible for customers, it should help us to significantly reduce the amount of time taken for a non-urgent repair to be completed so that we can continue to meet challenging repairs targets".
The scheme will be rolled out on a six-month trial basis across all areas of Sheffield from April 1st. Customers should call the repairs service centre to report a repair as before on 0114 2735555.
