Santa makes his 'First Point' of call to Crystal Peaks Area Housing Office

Santa 'Housing Officer Scott Ford' surprises Jamie Ford with an early Christmas pressie!

Sheffield Homes’ local First Point at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre will become home to Santa this Christmas!

Boys and girls can visit Santa in his Grotto in the First Point reception area of Crystal Peaks Housing Office to tell him what they would like for Christmas and to receive an early Christmas present!  Sheffield City Libraries have kindly donated children’s books, which will be given to the children along with other Christmas gifts.

Entry to the Grotto is free.  A  £1 voluntary donation towards two local charities – Bluebell Wood and Sheffield Children’s Hospital – would be appreciated.

There will also be a ‘Name the Logo’ competition where youngsters get the chance to create a Christmas character from the Sheffield Homes’ logo and be in with a chance of winning a prize!  Entry to the competition is free and will fall into three age groups:

  • Pre - school
  • Infants
  • Juniors

A winner from each group will be chosen by the local Tenants’ and Residents’ Associations.

Shaun Nolan, Sheffield Homes’ South East Area Manager says: “ We want to help make Christmas a magical time for our customers and their children and we are thrilled that Santa is setting up his Grotto at our local First Point. But more than that, we hope that any donations raised by our customers will help towards making Christmas special and help improve the lives of children and families who will benefit from our local charities.”

When Kier Sheffield heard about Santa setting up his Grotto,  they kindly offered to build it. Two apprentices from Kier’s scheme helped construct the soft timber wood frame at its Manor Lane site. Once complete, the frame was folded down and transported to Crystal Peaks where the apprentices erected the structure.

Andy Wilson, senior construction manager for Decent Homes commented, “When we heard about Crystal Peaks Housing Office having a Santa’s Grotto we offered to build it so we could provide something for the local community during the festive season.”

The Grotto will be open between 10am - 12 noon and 3pm - 5pm from Monday 17 to  Friday 21 December.
