Construction partners appointed for housing investment work - 21 December 2004  

Sheffield City Council has announced the five construction partners who will do the improvement work to council homes to bring them up to the Government’s Decent Homes Standard by 2010. 
 

Tenants will benefit from bonus funding - 17 December 2004 

Sheffield Homes has received a £200,000 bonus for its excellent performance in reducing the amount of rent lost on empty properties. 
 

Sheffield Homes Chief Executive appointed - 16 December 2004  

Peter Morton has been appointed as the Chief Executive of Sheffield Homes.  
 

Triple court success against nuisance neighbours - 15 December 2004  

Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Homes have worked together to get an injunction and two undertakings from tenants in the courts. All three tenants must stop causing noise nuisance or they will face fines or even imprisonment.
 

Tenants' and Residents' Association celebrate milestone - 13 December 2004

Burnbank Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (TARA) will celebrate its twenty first birthday with a party on Tuesday 14 December. To make sure as many people as possible come along, 150 tickets have been printed. The party takes place at the Spectrum Centre on Brunswick Road.
 

Three stars release £285m to improve council homes - 9 December 2004

Government inspectors have awarded Sheffield Homes the maximum three stars, with promising prospects for improvement, following a recent inspection. This is a fantastic achievement, underlined by the fact that from over 700 housing inspections carried out, only around 20 have won three stars. This excellent result releases an additional £285 million to spend on bringing council homes across the city up to the Decent Homes Standard. Sheffield Homes can now improve 29,000 homes, installing thousands of new kitchens, bathrooms, central heating systems and windows for tenants.
 

Tenants say yes to ALMO option - 7 December 2004

Tenants in five areas of Sheffield have voted overwhelmingly in favour of an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) to manage homes in their communities. Local Neighbourhood Commissions recommended the ALMO option to bring in the investment needed to improve properties in line with the Government’s Decent Homes Standard.
