Burnbank TARA celebrates 21st birthday

Tenants' and Residents' Association celebrates birthday

Burnbank Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (TARA) will celebrate its twenty first birthday with a party on Tuesday 14 December. To make sure as many people as possible come along, 150 tickets have been printed. The party takes place at the Spectrum Centre on Brunswick Road.

Burnbank TARA represents over 650 Sheffield Homes tenants in the Burngreave area. Founder members, Dorothy and Mary Hewitt, said: "We wanted to celebrate the event and someone suggested holding a party. We are doing it in style. Halal, vegetarian, and English food will be provided by the Pakistani Muslim Centre. Children will be well catered for with qualified play workers leading games and activities and a discotheque will ensure a party atmosphere."

Additional surprises are also on offer but people will have to attend the event to find out what else is in store.

In order to reach their diverse community, a newsletter was translated into the four main community languages, with an article telling people about the party and inviting them to collect tickets from either the Sheffield Homes Area Housing Office or Burngreave library. Tenants in the area who haven’t got a ticket and want to come along on Tuesday evening should call Dorothy and Mary on 2758290.
