Lovell and Sheffield Homes raise £1,200 for Weston Park Cancer Appeal

Community-minded staff from local housing firm Lovell and Sheffield Homes joined forces to raise £1,200 for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Appeal.

Housing refurbishment specialist Lovell, which has offices in Maltravers Road, is currently carrying out Decent Homes housing modernisation work across the city for Sheffield Homes.

Lovell and Sheffield Homes employees organised various events to raise the money, with five Lovell staff members running the Sheffield Half Marathon in 2006. Emma Jones, Maria Govorusa, Jamie Rowlinson, Andrew Parchment and Tony Herrington all completed the 21km race, and Lovell matched the amount raised through sponsorship, doubling their total.  A raffle, collection and auction of free gifts at the Lovell and Sheffield Homes offices netted further funds.

“We think it’s really important to support a cause that makes such a difference,” says Lovell senior customer liaison advisor Emma Jones. “Everyone has worked together and achieved a fantastic result.”

Dawn Shaw, Decent Homes Project Manager for Sheffield Homes says “It’s great that  Sheffield Homes and Lovell have been able to join forces to support such an important local charity. I’d like to thank all the staff involved for the tremendous effort they put in, to raise this money.”

The Weston Park Hospital is one of only three hospitals in the country dedicated exclusively to cancer treatment. Lovell and Sheffield Homes have also worked together to raise money for the local charity Help a Hallam Child, donating £1,200 to fund its work helping disadvantaged children in the North Midlands and South Yorkshire.
