Manor Castle residents say ‘YES’ to excellent estate services

120 residents from the Manor Castle area of the city are saying ‘YES’ to excellent estate services, following the signing of a new contract between Your Estate Services (Y.E.S) and South Yorkshire Housing Association (S.Y.H.A). The Y.E.S Team, which is managed by Sheffield Homes has been chosen as the contractor of choice to provide estates, shrub bed maintenance and neighbourhood warden services to S.Y.H.A tenants.

The YES service was designed in partnership with tenants and is the first of its kind in the country. It offers a new type of Neighbourhood Management, in which services are delivered under contract to registered social landlords. Sheffield Homes receives a fee for operating the service, while the landlords receive a team of experienced staff with local knowledge underpinned by Sheffield Homes’ excellent three star reputation.

The YES service is designed to place together the main operational elements needed to deliver estate services, so they can respond quickly to the needs and priorities of the local community. This style of working provides benefits for all partners, but most importantly, the tenants and residents of the areas concerned.

Y.E.S. will be providing a range of services to S.Y.H.A tenants including warden patrols on estates to help tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour and will also manage block cleaning, fly tipping, graffiti removal, grass and hedge cutting and shrub maintenance.

The YES Team already provides services to 3,500 customers including the tenants of Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) Pennine Housing 2000, Acis and Parkway Housing Associations. Last year, the team cleared away over 734 tonnes of rubbish and removed 200 instances of graffti.  YES team wardens carried out over 950 patrols across to monitor and tackle ASB on our streets. The YES Team employs 30 people.

Peter Morton, Chief Executive Sheffield Homes comments “Since the YES Team was formed in 2007, it has already provided major benefits for people in the Manor Castle area of the city. This new contract will ensure South Yorkshire Housing Association tenants in the area receive the same high quality services, which will be monitored by joint estate visits involving customers, the YES Team and SYHA .”

Tony Stacey, Chief Executive at South Yorkshire Housing Association says, “We’re really pleased to be working with Sheffield Homes and the YES consortium as it will provide better value for money and a more consistent, high quality service for residents, and we’re looking forward to hearing from our residents on the Manor as the scheme develops”.

To mark the start of the new contract, a formal signing ceremony will take place on Wednesday 20th August at 3.30pm at Woodthorpe Forum Building on Ulley Rd - Woodthorpe.
