Sheffield Homes Tenants to put their Ideas into the Repairs Pot

Sheffield Homes and repairs contractor Kier Sheffield will be presenting a series of fun and interactive sessions at Sheffield Homes’ next Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Tenants Forum.

The forum provides a special opportunity for tenants to tell Sheffield Homes and Kier what they think about the repairs and maintenance service and to talk about wider issues that affect them, their families and their communities.

The theme of this BME Forum is repairs and maintenance.  Sheffield Homes will be presenting tailored interactive workshops taking into account cultural differences, to find out the audiences’ views on the current repairs and maintenance service. There will be a special focus on the barriers to accessing the services and exploring tenants’ ideas as to how we can make future improvements.

Sheffield Homes has successfully held nine BME forums, on each occasion gaining valuable feedback through talking to customers.

Janet Parry, Director of Housing Management at Sheffield Homes said, “We are building on the huge success of the last BME Forum and are looking at new ways to bring communities closer together.  This year we have already made a number of improvements to the delivery of our repairs and maintenance service. As part of our commitment to continually improve through close engagement with our customers, I expect this year’s forum will make a big contribution to future improvements to the services we provide.”

Tenants can also use the forum to ask senior staff from Sheffield Homes about a range of housing issues and have a say about improving and developing Sheffield Homes services in general.

Interpreter facilities will also be provided on request and travel and carer expenses will be paid.  Refreshments and food including Halal and vegetarian options will also be provided.

Sheffield Homes customers interested in attending can book a place or an interpreter by calling the Community Engagement team on 0114 273 5566 or emailing getinvolved@sheffieldhomes.org.uk.
