From Monday 18th to Friday 22nd August, with the support of Activity Sheffield, a series of fun street sport themed activities will take place across Sheffield involving local residents, schools and community groups. The initiative has been set up to increase awareness of how the Decent Homes programme, a £669million scheme of improvements to Council homes managed by Sheffield Homes, is contributing to improving the quality of life for young residents across Sheffield.
Throughout the week each Decent Homes partner will host a fun activity including, Street Football, a 25 meter long inflatable football pitch and Street Wheels, a portable skateboarding and BMX course. Staff from Sheffield Homes and Decent Homes partners will be on hand to answer any questions and provide information about Decent Homes work being undertaken in the area.
Iain Allott, Decent Homes Programme Manager, Sheffield Homes said: “We have set up a week of summer fun, with the help of our Decent Homes partners and Activity Sheffield, as a small thank you to our younger customers for their patience while Decent Homes work has been undertaken in their area. The week will also highlight how the programme is not only improving the quality of our residents’ homes but is also helping to strengthen the community.”
The week of fun is intended to build on the success of previous action weeks such as environment week held in March of this year.
