Tenants views sought for new opportunities

Sheffield Council's tenants have just a few days left to comment on the blueprint for the future of tenant involvement in the housing service.

Sheffield Homes, who manage the properties on behalf of Sheffield City Council, the Council and tenants, are in the final stages of completing the new City Wide Tenant Participation Agreement.  Tenants have been fully involved throughout, helping to produce the document from day one.

One of the main aims of the document is to work together to give tenants and residents a greater say in the way services are delivered, provide new opportunities for involvement, and eliminate any barriers to participation.

Peter Morton, Chief Executive of Sheffield Homes, said: "We sincerely hope that as many tenants as possible will choose to comment and really make this a document that everyone has been involved in producing.

"The agreement is really just the start. We are committed to raising the standard of tenant involvement in Sheffield, and hope that the agreement and the way it sets out clearly all the different ways tenants and residents can take part, with an indication of the time involved, will lead to more people coming forward."

Comments are required by Thursday 21st July 2005.
