Help To Improve Housing Services In Your City!

Black and minority ethnic tenants can make a real difference to council housing services by attending a Forum next month.

Sheffield Homes wants to target hard-to-reach groups whose input, ideas and suggestions are vital in helping to improve and develop its services.

With this in mind, a fifth BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) Forum will take place on Tuesday 4 April at The Grosvenor House Hotel, Charter Square, Sheffield.

The event will focus on repairs and maintenance, looking at how Sheffield Homes works with its partner Kier Sheffield LLP to provide a citywide repairs service.

Tenants will be able to talk to staff that deliver the service and say what they would do to make things better.

Louise Thompson, Tenant Participation Manager at Sheffield Homes, said: “What tenants tell us at this conference will genuinely make a difference.  We will take all comments on board and use them to help improve the services we deliver across Sheffield.

“BME tenants have helped us plan the event this time, from the structure and content of the event to the choice of venue.  Their feedback was very useful, which is why we’re so keen to hear their views and suggestions on important matters, like repairs and maintenance.

“So if you would like to have your say, why not come along – we’d be pleased to see you.”

The BME Forum runs from 9.30am to 1pm.  Sheffield Homes will pay travel and carer expenses.  It will also provide a crèche, interpreters and refreshments, as well as lunch at the end.

If you are interested in coming to the conference, please contact Jane Lyon in the Sheffield Homes Tenant Participation Team to book a place.
