Firth Park youngsters enjoy Easter Egg-Travaganza

Easter came early for a group of children living in the Firth Park area of Sheffield. Over 30 children enjoyed an Easter Egg -Travaganza party and received an Easter Egg each at an event organised by Sheffield Homes, Brushes Tenants and Residents Association and Mears –  one of the partners carrying out work on Sheffield Homes Decent Homes programme in the area.

An Egg-citing time was on offer for the children who were provided with a variety of entertainment, including a chance to meet Mears children’s health and safety mascot Mr Menda.

The party was held at the Decent Homes Show Home at 31 Downham Road,  and provided an opportunity for parents to drop in and chat to staff about the Decent Homes programme.

The party was part of a larger appeal for Easter Eggs by Sheffield Homes and Mears to be donated to children throughout Sheffield. Over 120 eggs have been collected due to the efforts of Sheffield Homes and Mears staff and through donations to Verdant Way Housing office and Mears branches.

The chocolate treats will be distributed to children throughout the city over the bank holiday.

Simon Senior, Decent Homes Project Manager says "We are delighted that our joint appeal with Mears for Easter Eggs has generated such an enthusiastic response and just want to thank everyone who has helped us to collect such a wonderful selection of eggs.”

Customer and Community Care Manager, Janice Stocks, from Mears, says
“We are pleased to be giving a treat to young children in Sheffield. With Easter being a time when children are off school; this is another opportunity for us to ensure that they remain safe in a fun and informative way”

Sheffield Homes is spearheading the huge Decent Homes programme which will see council homes across Sheffield, improved including new kitchens, bathrooms and central heating systems.
