Champagne Charlie Moves Back Home!

Charlie celebrates with friend Jane Birkinshaw

Sheffield Homes' tenant Charlie Priest was presented with a bottle of bubbly to help him celebrate when he moved back into his refurbished property at Stocksbridge last week after it was fully restored following last summer’s devastating floods.

Sheffield Homes, the management company which oversees 43,000 homes on behalf of Sheffield City Council, and its repairs contractor Kier worked very hard to get all the properties affected by the floods completely repaired. They totally refurbished Mr Priest’s flat and also fitted a new electric fire and surround much to his delight.

Charlie stayed with family and friends while the refurbishment to his property was taking place as well as taking a well deserved extended holiday in Cyprus.

Sheffield Homes' North West Housing Area Manager Surjan Tiwana says: “We are thrilled that Charlie is now back in his home. He has always given us his full support throughout what must have been a very traumatic ordeal for him.  His property has now been fully repaired and looking as good as new and he is highly delighted with the final result.  We wish him all the very best for the future.”

Charlie says “ There’s only one word to describe it.. Brilliant! The workmanship I cannot fault and the flat looks beautiful, it’s great to be home again. Everyone working here has been so helpful and friendly and the gift of champagne has been the icing on the cake!”

Mr Priest is one of the final residents to return to his home.
