Local ‘STARS’ Shine at Awards Ceremony
Sheffield residents who regularly volunteer their time to help bring their communities closer together, were recognised at a special ‘STAR’ awards event held at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club on Friday 18 April.
The STAR (Special Thanks And Recognition) Awards were set up by Sheffield Homes a year ago to recognise the excellent work carried out by Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs) in the North of Sheffield.
This was the second Star Awards event to be held.
Each of the 18 TARAs were recognised for one of many key achievements over the last 12 months. Here are just a few examples of the positive work they have carried out carried out throughout the last year:
· working hard organising trips for the local community
· the successful proposal of a crossing on Herries Road
· distributing Christmas hampers throughout the local community
· planning and contribution to the Cookson Park 'In The Pink' Festival
· working alongside Sheffield Wildlife Trust to improve Tongue Gutter
Paul Voyse, North Area Manager at Sheffield Homes said, “I can’t believe how the time has flown since last year's awards and I’m continually impressed at the energy shown by our local TARA’s. Their hard work within the local community is highly valued, not only by myself, but the company as a whole.”
Sheffield Homes’ Chief Executive Peter Morton presented awards on the evening.
