Local Children to Showcase Their Talents in S-Factor Competition - 27 June 2008
Budding Sheffield superstars will be taking to the stage in the finals of the Sheffield Homes ‘S Factor’ competition on Thursday. Children from five primary schools will be singing their hearts out to be in with the chance of winning the top prize of £1000 for their school. Sheffield Homes asked them to put their song writing skills to the test and produce a rap or song that would raise awareness of the dangers of playing on building sites.
Sheffield Homes Call Centre Scoops Silver in Top Industry Awards - 26 June 2008
Sheffield Homes was awarded the Silver medal in the ‘Best Small Contact Centre’ category of the Contact Centre World awards, which recognises the top performers in the massive call centre industry. The Company impressed judges with the quality of its customer services to win second place in the Europe /Middle East and Africa region.
Miles of smiles for Peggy in her newly refurbished Decent Home - 26 June 2008
Peggy Baker, who has lived at Longley Hall Farm estate for 30 years, is over the moon with the improvements that have been made to her flat as part of the Decent Homes programme. She is one of just over 500 Sheffield Homes customers celebrating the end of a three year makeover on the Longley estate, which has transformed council homes with new windows, kitchens and bathrooms.
Residents to take pride in Norfolk Park in a day of celebrations - 26 June 2008
Sheffield Homes and its partners held a special day of celebrations to end a week of action, in Norfolk Park. The celebrations included fun activities from face painting and bouncy castles to gardening competitions and sports activities including a climbing wall.
Bands and Blooms Festival Is Back - 20 June 2008
The event, which aims to bring communities in the North of Sheffield closer together, has been a huge success in recent years with over 3,000 people visiting in just one day. This year it’s hoped the event will attract even more visitors as all proceeds raised will go to the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. This year’s activities will take place on Sunday 29 June 11am - 6.30pm at Angram Bank Pavilion, High Green.
Gleadless residents lead the way in recycling - 18 June 2008
Residents of Sheffield Homes’ Callow Place Tower Block in Gleadless Valley are helping to lead the way in creating a greener Sheffield. They are currently trialling a new type of container that could be used to make recycling easier across Sheffield.
Jobs Silver Lining for Teenagers on Flood-Hit Estate - 17 June 2008
For Scott Doran, 17, and Liam Briggs, 19, the 2007 floods which affected the Winn Gardens estate where they live was devastating. However, the remarkable spirit of the two young men and others like them on the estate has led to a silver lining for their futures – a special apprenticeship with council housing repairs contractor Kier Sheffield leading to a career in construction.
Housing staff help Sheffield Sharp Shooters to head for success - 10 June 2008
Sheffield Homes has helped 5-a-side football team, Gleadless Valley’s Sheffield Sharp Shooters, to ‘head for success’ by providing the team with a full football kit including shirts, shorts, socks and shin pads. The kit was provided in partnership with South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield Council’s Safer Neighbourhood Partnership Team, who are also providing coaching sessions for young people in the Gleadless area.

Sheffield Homes Given a Clean Bill of Health - 12 May 2008
Sheffield Homes, the Company which manages council housing in the city, has been given a clean bill of health by Government inspectors. The Company passed its annual Charter Mark inspection with flying colours, receiving approval from the Cabinet Office that it is delivering excellent customer services. Tenants and staff were involved in the ‘health check’, which looked into a variety of customer services including complaints handling, communication and customer service centres.

I Bet That They Look Good on the Dance Floor! - 1 May 2008
Residents at St George’s Court Sheltered Housing Scheme will be getting a few dancing tips from pupils from Eckington Secondary School on how to trip the light fantastic when they put on their dancing shoes and step out onto their newly fitted dance floor. The youngsters will be performing a dance routine for the residents and other invited guests on Wednesday 7 May to celebrate the fitting of the dance floor.
