I Bet That They Look Good on the Dance Floor!
Residents at St George’s Court Sheltered Housing Scheme will be getting a few dancing tips from pupils from Eckington Secondary School on how to trip the light fantastic when they put on their dancing shoes and step out onto their newly fitted dance floor. The youngsters will be performing a dance routine for the residents and other invited guests on Wednesday 7 May to celebrate the fitting of the dance floor.
Residents found that they were quickstepping on each other’s toes at the Sheltered Scheme at Beet Street, Netherthorpe, due to the lack of a purpose-built dance floor.
The light-footed tenants decided to submit a bid for funding from Sheffield Homes’ Area Board and were dancing on air when they found out they had been successful!
Sheffield City Council’s City Stewardship Team kindly offered to fit the floor for free.
Sheffield Homes’ Sheltered Housing Manager Rhian Owen, says: “We are always looking for ways to further improve our residents quality of life at our Sheltered Housing Schemes. Our tenants are thrilled with their new dance floor and I’m sure they could show those ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ TV contestants a thing or two about performing a stylish fox trot!”
Sheffield Homes’ North West Area Manager Surjan Tiwana, says: “ We are delighted to have helped towards putting a spring in the step of our residents at St George’s Court. Dancing need not be just for the younger generation, it can benefit the physical and psychological health of people whatever their age and I’m sure our tenants will be taking their partners for a spin for some time to come.”
