Sheffield Homes Delivers on Decent Homes
Sheffield Homes, the organisation responsible for managing Sheffield’s council homes, will be reporting excellent performance on the Decent Homes programme to its Board of Directors on the 20th of May.
Sheffield Homes and its contractor partners have renovated over 9000 homes across Sheffield during 2007/8 and have met all the challenging quarterly and year end targets.
Satisfaction of tenants with Decent Homes work has shown positive growth throughout 2007/2008 with 90.5% of tenants satisfied with Decent Homes work to their property during the last quarter of the year. Sheffield Homes and its contractors have worked hard to make changes to the way work is carried out based on feedback from tenants who have already had work done.
Sheffield Homes will also report to the Board how much has been spent on Decent Homes over the course of the year. £122.7million of capital funding has been spent on the scheme during the year, slightly below the target of £123.7m. Savings have been made during the year due to achieving a reduction in contractor prices and looking for innovative ways to deliver better value for money. The underspend will be reinvested in the 2007/8 programme.
Director of Investment at Sheffield Homes, Jon Lovibond, said; “These results reflect the hard work put in by staff at Sheffield Homes and also our contractor partners, who are all committed to delivering excellent results on behalf of our tenants. Sheffield is running the UK’s largest Decent Homes programme – it really is a huge undertaking and we have a big year ahead of us for 2008/2009 – but we are confident that we have the right plans and the best team in place to continue to deliver results such as this”.
Sheffield Homes is delivering £669 million of Government-funded improvements to over 40,000 council homes by 2010 to ensure homes are warm, weatherproof and have modern kitchens and bathrooms.
