Awards Recognise Local 'STARS'
Sheffield residents who volunteer their time to help bring the community closer together, are being recognised at a special ‘STAR’ awards event.
The STAR (Special Thanks And Recognition) Awards were set up by Sheffield Homes to recognise the excellent work carried out by Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs) in the North of Sheffield.
All 17 TARAs will be recognised for one of many key achievements in the last 12 months. Examples of the positive work carried out throughout the year include:
- work on witness support and anti-social behaviour in the area; of which TARA members have received awards from the Home Office
- bulb planting that has improved the local community
- providing personal attack alarms and assertiveness training for the local community
- planning and contribution to the High Green community summer festival, Bands and Blooms.
Paul Voyse, Area Manager at Sheffield Homes said, “TARAs are committed to working in partnership with ourselves and other organisations to help develop services in the local area and city-wide. These awards are designed as a thank you to every TARA who volunteers their time to helping others in the community.”
The awards were held at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. Sheffield Homes’ Chief Executive Peter Morton presented awards on the evening.
