Immediate Eviction For Nuisance Tenant
Sheffield City Council has obtained an immediate Possession Order against a tenant who has been causing serious nuisance to his neighbours. The case was prepared by Sheffield Homes (the organisation that now manages Council properties and is helping to tackle anti social behaviour in Sheffield).
Selkirk Simpson, 56, of Sedan Street, Sheffield has caused misery to neighbours by shouting and playing loud music all night on a regular basis. In June 2005 he was made the subject of a restraining order to keep away from his neighbour, which he subsequently breached twice. The second breach resulted in four months imprisonment.
In July 2005 Mr Simpson was made the subject of an injunction not to breach his tenancy agreement with Sheffield City Council after repeatedly threatening to kill his neighbours and using abusive language against them. He has also been subject to two other injunctions and an undertaking to prevent him from being abusive to Housing Office staff. His failure to abide by these injunctions has led the Council to take possession action and he will now be evicted from his home.
Councillor Jackie Drayton, Cabinet Advisor for Community Safety, said: "Behaviour of this sort is unacceptable. I am pleased that the court has supported our action, and recognised that we are acting to protect other tenants. Eviction is a last resort but we cannot allow individuals to blight the lives of those living around them or to threaten council staff. We are determined to deal with anti social behaviour and will continue to take action against perpetrators."
