Entire city set to benefit from new nuisance team

Sheffield Homes' newly trained Safety Wardens

A NEWLY trained response team has just been launched to tackle nuisance behaviour across the whole of Sheffield.

Sheffield Homes' Safety Warden Service is seen as a significant addition to the organisation's existing Neighbourhood Warden schemes that already operate successfully in various estates across the city.

The new fast response units are providing a highly visible mobile service between 8.30am and 10pm, seven-days-a-week.

The team - consisting of three Senior Wardens and eight Wardens - is managed by Sheffield Homes' Safer Estates Unit and tasked with:

  • Working closely with police, local area housing offices and community groups to tackle nuisance behaviour and gather evidence for enforcement action.
  • Patrolling problem "hotspots".
  • Providing advice and support to residents on a whole range of issues to improve their quality of life.

Lesley Greg, Sheffield Homes' Warden Supervisor, said: "The launch of the new Safety Warden Service is a significant step in the fight to tackle nuisance behaviour across the city and builds on the success of existing Neighbourhood Warden Schemes."

The Safety Wardens are based at Burngreave.
