Centenarian Gwen celebrates special birthday in revamped home - 20 December 2006
Decent Homes workmen promised Gwen Taylor she would be back in her newly-refurbished home in time for a special occasion – her 100th birthday. They kept their promise and Mrs Taylor celebrated the milestone event on 11th December in a revamped home, complete with new kitchen, door and windows.
All aboard the Burngreave walking bus - 15 December 2006
Youngsters at a Burngreave school are getting a healthy and safe start to their day by ‘jumping on board’ a new travel initiative. Children from Firshill Community Primary School are putting on their walking shoes and joining the Burngreave Walking Bus to travel to school.

Adaptations to homes can transform lives for customers - 8 December 2006
Ecclesfield customers David and Irene Hawksworth are saying a big thank you to Sheffield Homes and Sheffield City Council for adaptations made to their home. Mr Hawksworth who has undergone treatment for bowel cancer and who suffers from emphysema and heart failure, needed the adaptations to enable him to be cared for at home.

A free shredding service is now available at two Sheffield Homes access points in a bid to protect customers against identity theft. People visiting Stocksbridge Housing Office and Hillsborough First Point can get their unwanted documents shredded, destroying any chance of criminals getting their hands on valuable personal information.

Sheffield Homes is offering over 50 people the opportunity to influence the future of housing in Sheffield. The organisation, which manages and maintains Sheffield’s 48,000 council homes is looking to recruit new volunteer members to its six local boards.
GladMag for special needs tenants - 23 November 2006
A Sheffield Homes initiative to help special needs tenants find a new home has proved a huge success. A survey has revealed that the number of tenants needing extra assistance with finding housing has almost halved, thanks to new partnerships with property newspaper AdMag and the national Accessible Properties Register website.
Special BME Event for Council Tenants - 15 November 2006
Black and minority ethnic Council tenants in Sheffield are being encouraged to have their say at a special event organised by Sheffield Homes in partnership with South Yorkshire Police and local tenants. The Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Tenants Forum, which is being held on Wednesday 22nd November, is an informal event that aims to provide Sheffield Homes’ BME tenants and residents the opportunity to have their say and be heard about issues affecting them, their family and the community.

Sheffield Homes wins UK's top housing award - 10 November 2006
Sheffield Homes has been honoured with a top accolade at yesterday’s finals of the UK Housing Awards after winning the ‘Excellence in Delivering Safer Neighbourhoods’ category. The Company was recognised for the work of its Neighbourhood Action Team, which was created in partnership with local communities to take an innovative approach to the prevention of anti-social behaviour. The team of five has worked with Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs) and other community partners in the North of Sheffield to draw up anti-social behaviour action plans tailored to the needs of each area.
Bogus callers alert in Gleadless Valley - 10 November 2006
Sheffield Homes is warning customers to be on their guard after suspected bogus callers got into a woman’s home. The two men called at an address in the Gleadless Valley area, one with what looked like an identity card and the other wearing a fluorescent workman’s jacket.
Telly Talk - new videophone service - 8 November 2006
Telly Talk, a new videophone service, from Sheffield Homes enables customers in Stocksbridge to talk face-to-face with staff based in the city centre without leaving their local area. The technology allows users to view each other via camera phone and can even be used to take photographs and collect online signatures for form applications, such as disabled driver badges.
