Residents thanks for Decent Homes contractor

Local residents in Norwood and Bishopsholme are so happy with one Decent Homes contractor that they are holding a special thank you event for their staff.

The Norwood and Bishopsholme Tenants and Residents Association (TARA), together with local residents in the area, hosted a community pie and pea lunch for Keepmoat and Sheffield Homes staff as a thank you for their hard work and generosity whilst the Decent Homes programme has been taking place.

TARA Secretary Norma Hallatt said,  “The staff at Keepmoat have been brilliant, nothing has been too much trouble for them and they have really helped to bring the community together.  Since Keepmoat has been working on our homes, more people have been coming to the local Community Centre to tell other people how great the staff have been.”

In true community spirit Keepmoat also donated £300 towards a Christmas party for children in the area.  Matthew Brettell, a Keepmoat employee, has even volunteered to be the DJ for the afternoon.  This donation has been added to the £500 that had already been raised by the community to make it an extra special event for local children.

Dave Moxon, senior site manager for Keepmoat, said: “The lunch was a fantastic surprise. Everyone has made us feel extremely welcome whilst we’ve been here which has certainly helped to make our jobs that little bit easier.

“It’s our aim to work as closely as possible with residents in the communities where we’re working. By involving them at every stage and finding out what’s important to them, we can really make a difference. I’m delighted that the residents here in Norwood and Bishopsholme are pleased with the work we’ve carried out and it’s even better to know that our work has brought the community closer together.”

Keepmoat is one of five contractors working in partnership with Sheffield Homes to deliver the largest Decent Homes programme in the country, to 48,000 homes across Sheffield.
