Lovell named as one of UK’s most considerate construction companies
Affordable housing and regeneration specialist Lovell, which is working with Sheffield Homes on its major Decent Homes housing refurbishment programme, has been recognised as one of the UK’s most considerate construction companies. Lovell has won Highly Commended awards in the Public Housing category and the Housing Repairs and Maintenance category in the UK’s Most Considerate Constructors Awards.
The awards, presented on 12 July at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, were held to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Only 48 out of some 4,500 eligible UK construction firms were honoured at the event. The companies chosen for awards are those which have consistently achieved the highest scores for considerate construction at their sites during the ten years that the Considerate Constructors Scheme has been in operation.
Designed to encourage responsible, well-run construction projects, the Considerate Constructors Scheme works through a system of independent assessors. Construction sites are scored according to how they perform in categories including the environment, safety, cleanliness and consideration for neighbours.
Lovell is one of seven contractor partners currently delivering the £669 million Decent Homes programme with Sheffield Homes, on behalf of Sheffield City Council. Lovell, which has local offices on Maltravers Road in Sheffield, has also put forward proposals for a £13 million housing development of 126 new family homes in the Manor area of Sheffield as part of Sheffield City Council’s Housing Market Renewal programme.
“It is a tremendous honour for Lovell to be selected as one of the UK’s most considerate construction companies and one that reflects the hard work of our project teams working on new-build housing, regeneration and refurbishment schemes,” says Lovell regional director Steve Hale. “Our support and membership of the Considerate Constructors Scheme is a vital part of the company’s commitment to forming strong partnerships with local communities, keeping our promises to residents and always working with consideration and respect for people and the environment.”
Dawn Shaw, Decent Homes project manager, Sheffield Homes, says:
“We set high standards for our partners on the Decent Homes programme and are delighted at Lovell's success in these awards. It’s really pleasing that their commitment to customers, their staff, the environment, and the general public have been recognised in this way."
