Connecting with Neighbourhoods in North West Sheffield

Neighbourhoods in North West Sheffield will come together at a new style community event this week to look at issues affecting local people. The neighbourhood conference will take place at Sheffield Wednesday Football Ground on Friday 17th August from 10am- 2.30pm.

 

Sheffield Homes has organised the event in partnership with a range of organisations to help identify key issues - housing-related or otherwise - that affect whole neighbourhoods. Local people will be able to talk to the organisations that can help put things right including Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Primary Care Trust, South Yorkshire Police, Sheffield Futures and the NW Sheffield Regeneration Partnership.

 

The neighbourhoods involved include Stannington, Westminster, Walkley, Crookes, Springvale, Langsett, Upperthorpe, Netherthorpe, Winn Gardens, Hillsborough and Stocksbridge.

 

The aim is to help people easily access different services by cutting through the bureaucracy that can exist in large, public organisations.

 

"This is a unique opportunity for local people to have key service providers all in one place at the same time to listen to and act upon their worries and concerns," said Surjan Tiwana, North West Area Manager for Sheffield Homes.

"We have invited local people, Community Forums and Tenants and Residents Associations to the event in the hope of getting a broad range of people that reflect our customer base.

"What people tell us on the day will help all of the organisations involved improve their services further in the knowledge that they are responding directly to customers’ needs and aspirations."
