Pupils say no to anti-social behaviour
Children in Heeley have been saying STOP to anti-social behaviour in Sheffield and have created their own poster campaign to highlight the negative affects of anti-social behaviour.
The pupils from Lowfield Primary School have been working with Sheffield Homes’ Central Area Anti Social Behaviour Team to learn more about the impact of anti-social behaviour in the community and the importance of being a good citizen.
Pupils from each of the six classes in the school, who are aged from 5-10 years old, were tasked by Sheffield Homes to create a campaign of posters that can be used throughout the local community, which explain ‘What is Anti-Social Behaviour?’
Sheffield Homes will be judging all of the posters and will be selecting a winner from each of the six classes involved. An overall school winner will then be chosen and there will be five runners-up, which will be presented by Sheffield United FC Midfielder Nick Law. The overall winning design has been turned into a special anti-social behaviour themed bookmark that will be given out to other children in the school and used by Sheffield Homes during work with other children in the area.
Simon Young, Sheffield Homes Area Manager explained, “The aim of our work in schools and this particular campaign with the pupils is to help make young people aware of the types of anti-social behaviour and how this affects the community they live in. We have had a really good response from everyone in the school and are planning to roll this project out to other schools across the area.”
