Shoreham Street Tenants and Residents Association launched
A new Tenants and Residents Associations (TARA) will be opening its doors for business this week at a special community event.
Shoreham Street TARA will be officially launched by Sheffield Homes at the Duchess Road Community Festival.
The event, which is being held on 21st July between 12pm – 4pm at Duchess Road Park, aims to bring the community together and gain views from local people about how the Duchess Road Park can be developed into an area suitable for the whole community.
At the community festival local people will get the chance to take part in a number of workshops and sessions including drumming, face painting, Indian head massage and sports activities being run by Activity Sheffield. There will also be a bouncy castle for the children and Sure Start will be running special craft workshops for juniors.
TARA Chair, Vick Wavingana said, "This is a very exciting time and we are really looking forward to working with local people and making a real difference to our community. The festival is an excellent opportunity to launch the TARA as it will attract a wide range of people who are keen to improve the area, especially Duchess Road Park. We will be working closely with Sheffield Homes, Sharrow Forum and other stakeholder on this and a number of other projects throughout the life of the TARA. Also, we hope that with this structure, the local people will have a proper way of expressing their views to the Local Authority"
Shoreham Street TARA will be providing ongoing support for over 90 homes in the Lowfield area of the city surrounding Bramall Lane Football Club. This includes streets around the Shoreham Street, Cromford Street and Queens Road area.
