Decent Homes workers give free makeover to community centre - 25th October 2005
Kind-hearted workers who had helped transform scores of homes on a Sheffield estate left residents with a special parting gift.
They gave up their free time to give the Brindley Community Centre a makeover and even donated and fitted a brand new kitchen.
Eviction for noisy neighbour - 25th October 2005
Sheffield City Council obtained a Possession Order at Sheffield County Court today (25 October) against Maria Williams of Papermill Road, S5 OEB. Should Miss Williams not move out within 14 days the Council and Sheffield Homes will take action to forceably remove her.
Revamp for city's biggest housing repairs service - 18th October 2005
Over 50,000 council homes across Sheffield could soon be benefiting from a more convenient and efficient repairs service if a new pilot scheme is successful. Changes to the system, which is delivered by Kier Sheffield on behalf of Sheffield Homes, will mean that tenants will no longer have to wait at home for up to half-a-day as appointments for repairs will be made within two-hour time slots.
Tripe unlocks WW2 secrets - 4th October 2005
Pigs trotters, tripe and chicklin and bag were just some of the 1940s delicacies on the menu for a group that re-lived their World War Two experiences recently. The veterans, who all live at the city’s Cambridge Court sheltered accommodation scheme, dressed in period costume – both civvies and uniform – and shared their memories of a city at war and the sacrifices they made.
