New facilities for young in Lansdowne

Young residents living in the Lansdowne area of Sheffield will soon have their own playground and new mini football pitch thanks to Sheffield Homes.

The Central Area and Estates Team at Sheffield Homes are due to turn a piece of unused wasteland on Club Garden Road into a playground and are also planning to improve the existing kickaround pitch for youngsters in the area.

Simon Young, Central Area Manager at Sheffield Homes said,

“This is an excellent opportunity to develop unused land into facilities for young people.  We have been working very closely with the local Tenants and Residents Association (TARA) to make sure we are providing amenities that the local community want.”

The local TARA representatives have had a big say in this initiative.  Barbara Hunter, Chair of the Tenants and Residents Association described it as being “really good for the area.”  Barbara continued by saying “It’s good to give younger children somewhere to play and improving the kickabout pitch will be great for everyone.”

Work on this project is due to start within the next few weeks.  Sheffield Homes are encouraging any residents in the area to get in touch with their local TARA representatives if they would like to have a say in the project.  Lansdowne residents can contact the area office on 0114 205 3333.

This is just one example of the excellent work carried out by Sheffield Homes to provide cleaner, greener and safer neighbourhoods for customers in its 48,000 homes.
