Spring Blooms Come Early for Sharrow Residents

Residents in Sharrow are being asked to pull on their winter woollies and gardening gloves to get ready for a ‘blooming’ good spring.

Sharrow Partnership and Lansdowne Tenants and Residents Association are running a special winter bulb-planting and tree-planting event on the Lansdowne estate to help brighten up the local area.  Volunteers are being invited to support the local TARA and community by planting crocuses and daffodils, which will flower in the New Year adn 5 large standard trees.

Geoff Lupton of Sheffield Homes’ Estates Team who works in the area, said, “Spring bulbs and trees bring a lot of colour and wildlife to an area and will help brighten people spirits after the winter months.  Our estates team are really looking forward to helping out on the day and making a difference.”

The activities are taking place on Friday 2nd November, 11am till 3pm.  Volunteers are asked to meet outside the Lansdowne meeting rooms on Club Garden Road.  Equipment will be provided.

This initiative is being supported by a number of organisations working in and around Sharrow including Sheffield Homes, Hallam Volunteering, Sheffield City Council Parks and Countryside Rangers and Community Foresters, Street Force & South Yorkshire Police.
