Does Your Home Meet The Standard?
Who will assess my home?
During the 'improving your home' process, you will be able to contact several different people, either by phone or in person, in order to make sure we are meeting all your needs.
These people are:
The Contractor
- Customer Liaison Advisors (CLA's) are employed by all 5 partnering contractors working on the Decent Homes programme. Their main purpose is to provide information and support to you during the improvement work.
- Supervisor
- Site Team
- Emergency Contact
Sheffield Homes
- Area Housing Officer
- Area Investment Team
We will provide you with all the relevant contact details for these people on a case by case basis.
How will my home be assessed?
Several months before the work starts, the contractor will contact you to arrange a suitable time to do a survey of your home to see what needs to be done.
The survey checks if your home meets the 4 main Standard criteria which are:
- Is your home in a good state of repair?
- Does your home have a modern kitchen?
- Does your home have a modern bathroom?
- Does your home have heating & insulation?
You will be able to choose some things like kitchen units, tiles and flooring. We will write all these things down and you'll sign some forms to confirm these choices. You will also get a copy of this form, so you can check you get the things you have chosen.
When we know all the details, we will give you a schedule so you know exactly what work will be done to your home.
Approximately 3 weeks before the work starts, the contractor will contact you to arrange access to your home.
Special Needs?
The Customer Liaison Advisor (CLA) will visit you in your home to discuss any special needs and will assess if you need to move somewhere else while the work is being done.
If you're staying in your home throughout the work, the contractor will plan around your needs and make the process as comfortable as possible for you.
