Tenants Own Improvements Leaflet

Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Homes wish to encourage tenants who spend money on improving their homes

Tenants who are about to move from their council home may be able to claim back some of the cost of any improvements they have carried out.  Information about this is in the leaflet "Tenants own improvements". The leaflet is available from all Area Housing Offices. Or you can download a copy from this page.

The leaflet includes information about:

  • The types of improvement that tenants may be able to claim money back on
  • Guidance on how to make a claim
  • The timescale for making a claim
  • Evidence that the work was carried out by the tenant and with the approval of the Council or Sheffield Homes
  • A form that tenants can use to make their claim
