It's important to play!
Play is a very important part of children’s development.
Well-designed playgrounds allow children to grow and develop physically, mentally and socially. They provide opportunities for youngsters to interact, enhance their social skills and contribute fully to the communities around them.
We manage 32 play area sites across the city and work closely with local communities, the Council and other agencies to continually improve them and develop new sites.
Regular weekly playground inspections are undertaken to check general safety and cleanliness. Equipment is checked for structural integrity, functionality and safety every quarter by Parks and Countryside Officers and annually by an independent safety advisor.
