Assessing your home

Several months before the work starts, the contractor for your area will contact you to arrange a suitable date and time to do a survey of your home.

The survey will check to see if your home meets the following criteria:

Will I have a choice in how my kitchen and bathroom will look?

Yes. When your home is assessed, a designer will help you with the new layout of your kitchen and bathroom. Here, you will be able to pick your kitchen units, worktop, wall tiles, taps and floor covering.

You will have the option to choose from a list of colours for kitchen units and worktops, tiles and flooring. As part of this process you will need to sign some forms to confirm your choices. You will also get a copy of this form, so you have a record of what you have picked. Below, you can download our  Decent Homes Choices leaflet.

Will my home be checked for asbestos?

Yes. All homes will be checked for asbestos before any work begins. You will be contacted several months before the start date for a survey of your property to be carried out. It is essential that you provide access for this as no works will be undertaken unless this is completed.
