Home improvements

As a leaseholder you have the right to improve your home, but some improvements and alterations will require permission from Sheffield City Council and us.

To obtain our permission, please contact us:

Who to speak to

Sheffield City Council and we will not unreasonably refuse permission unless there is good reason. If we do refuse, we will explain the reasons why. If permission is granted, you may also need to check whether you require planning or building control approval for any planned work.

If the alterations are significant, you may also need the permission of the Bank or Building Society that has lent you the money to buy your home.

You are breaking the terms of your lease if you do work without permission.

In such cases, Sheffield City Council reserves the right to have any alterations removed and the originals reinstated. The costs for such work will be charged to the leaseholder.

Please insert – or link – the table that is listed on page13/14 of the previous information sent to you. This table lists the works leaseholders would need permission for.
