Digital TV Switchover
Work to upgrade communal television aerials
Television is changing! By 2012, analogue television services in the UK will go completely digital, region by region. This process is called digital switchover and will
happen here in Sheffield 2011. Everyone with a television will need to do something to get ready for the switchover.
To prepare for the Digital switchover Sheffield Homes has replaced communal aerial to around 9,500 homes. As part of this work new television sockets have been fitted to inside the homes.
Everyone that was affected has been contacted and has received the work.
The work only affected council tenants and leaseholders who receive television through a communal aerial. Those who have their own aerial are responsible for making sure that it is ready for switchover. Everyone that was affected has been contacted and has received the work.
Below you can download important information about the digital switchover which tells you about:
- The type of systems we have installed where customers receive a signal through a communal aerial including what the systems will and won’t do and what type of equipment you may need.
- What you need to do to make sure you can still watch TV after the switchover.
- Who to contact if there is a problem.
We have also produced some frequently asked questions also available to download below and a list of events
You will need to make sure that you have the right equipment to receive a digital signal. You do not need to buy a new television as all televisions, including black and white sets, can be converted using the right digibox for the system that has been installed.
The digital switchover will take place between 3 August and 21 September 2011. This has been well publicised by Digitaluk.
