Heating replacement
We have an Obsolete Heating Replacement Programme to replace obsolete and old central heating boilers around the city. An old or obsolete heating boiler is one were:
- We have difficulty in finding replacement parts
- They have a conventional flue
- The system has a back boiler
- It regularly breaks down and is inefficient
We are installing condensing combination boilers which are classed in energy efficiency Band A. This means they are over 95% energy efficient and it is estimated they will save the average household £100 per year in fuel bills. |

The boilers have been put into 4 priority groups and the programme of work will replace boliers that are oldest or in the worst condition first. These boilers are classed as priority 1 and our maintenance contractor Kier Sheffield will be contacting tenants to arrange to survey homes prior to work starting.
Any home which is already included in a future Decent Homes phase and has an obsolete boiler will have the boiler replaced as part of the Decent Homes programme.
There are approximately 14,000 obsolete boilers in the city so the programme of work will take several years to complete and will be dependent on the resources made available by Sheffield City Council.
