Rent payments and arrears
The weekly charge for your home is made up of:
- Rent
- Water rates
- Tenants’ levy
It could also include:
- Furnished accommodation charges
- Communal heating charges
- District heating charges
- City-wide alarm charges
- Sheltered accommodation charges
Before entering into a tenancy agreement, we will tell you the total amount you will have to pay.
It is important that, before signing for a tenancy, you look at your income and spending and make sure you will be able to afford the charge.
You may be eligible for Housing Benefit to cover some of the weekly charge, however, you will always have a minimum of water rates and tenants levy to pay as these are not covered by Housing Benefit.
