How long will I have to wait for a property?

Priorities

We consider people by priority first. However, to make the system fairer, one person in every four from each type and size of property category is assessed based on their waiting time. This is clearly shown in the property adverts.

To help further, we have produced a guide for each area of the city that sets out the likely availability and waiting times for council and housing association homes to rent. Please see the links on the left.

Here, we have listed the estates where there are homes to rent and detailed the numbers, types and sizes of property on each.

You will also see how many properties of each type and size became available in the previous three months, including the waiting time or priority of the people who were allocated these homes and how many made bids.

This should give you an idea of how long you might have to wait for different types of property in different areas of Sheffield.

To view the properties currently available to rent in the city, go to the Sheffield Property Shop website.
