What activities are provided at schemes?
Being involved in communal activities can contribute to healthy ageing.
Such is the flexibility of our schemes, you can participate as much or as little as you choose. You have guaranteed privacy but plenty of people nearby and a range of social activities, such as coach trips or theatre visits, which are encouraged by wardens as a way to promote health and wellbeing.
In most schemes, there is also a communal lounge where coffee mornings and such pastimes as keep fit, craft sessions, luncheon clubs and bingo can be organised.
One of our homes, Mount View Lodge, has just benefitted from the collective spirit of its residents. Two people volunteered to represent tenants and raised £500 in grants.
This led to redecoration, more attractive pictures on corridor walls, a garden makeover and new equipment that allows those with disabilities to join in. The scheme is also involved in an ‘active ageing’ programme to help keep older people physically and mentally occupied.
