Each year, there are one or two vacancies for Tenant and Independent Area Board members because a certain number are required to retire.

The Council reviews its appointments to the Boards annually.

In addition, vacancies occasionally arise when Area Board members choose to retire for personal reasons before the end of their term. These will be filled as long as they occur at least six months before scheduled retirement dates.
