Can I become an Area Board member?

Area Board members are drawn from three groups:
  • Sheffield City Council tenants and leaseholders
  • Independents
  • Council appointees

Each year, there are one or two vacancies for Tenant and Independent Area Board members because a certain number are required to retire. The next set of vacancies will be advertised in March 2010 in the local press, on our website and in Area Offices.

The Council reviews its appointments to the Boards annually.

In addition, vacancies occasionally arise when Area Board members choose to retire for personal reasons before the end of their term. These will be filled as long as they occur at least six months before scheduled retirement dates.

If you are interested in becoming an Area Board member, please contact our Governance Team for further details. Email them at: enquiries@sheffieldhomes.org.uk  or call 0114 273 4417.
