What the boards do
Overall responsibility for the company rests with a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors sets our direction and takes the lead role in defining our identity, strategies and culture, and in ensuring that we meet our responsibilities to tenants, residents, the Council and other stakeholders. It works with tenants and their representatives to ensure that the Sheffield Tenant Participation Agreement [link] is carried out.
The Board of Directors is made up of seven tenants, five independents and three council appointees.
The Tenant Directors are elected by Sheffield City Council tenants.
The independents are selected by the Nominations Panel, a Committee of the Board of Directors.
The Council Directors are appointed by the Council.
Each Board Director retires after three years and we advertise vacancies for Tenant Directors and independents on the Board every year. Find out more about becoming a Board Director [Link].
As well as the Board of Directors, there are six Area Boards and a Sheltered Housing Board, which take their lead from the Board of Directors. Each Area Board is made up of five tenants, four independents and two council appointees. The Sheltered Housing Advisory Panel is made up of four tenants, three independents and one council appointee.
The Executive Leadership Team is responsible for managing Sheffield Homes and for carrying out the strategies and decisions made by the Board of Directors.
