Area and Properties

Wincobank is one of the largest council estates in Sheffield. Consisting of 3 main areas, (Flower, Castledine and Lower Wincobank), Wincobank lies about 4 miles northeast of Sheffield city centre.

Flower

Located a short distance away from the M1 motorway the estate is predominately made up of pre-war built council housing.

Castledine

Located close to Brightside the estate overlooks the nearby Meadowhall Complex. The estate contains a mixture of council, housing association and owner occupied properties. The age and type of these properties varies with the majority being 2 and 3 bed, terraced and semi-detached houses.

Lower Wincobank

Located close to the Meadowhall Complex the council properties in the area are mainly flats, bedsits, bungalows on the Fife Street/Stanwell estate and the Newman Court sheltered scheme.
Demand for properties tends to be low to mid-range.

Amenities

Flower

The estate has access to a small number of shops and services mainly located at Wincobank Avenue. These include post office, convenience store, takeaway outlet and off-license. A much wider range of shops and facilities can be found at neighbouring Meadowhall and Firth Park shopping centres.

Castledine

Shops and services in the estate are quite limited with the majority of tenants using nearby Meadowhall.

Lower Wincobank

The shopping facilities in Lower Wincobank are quite good with a small variety of shops such as off licence, take away, newsagent and small supermarket. Nearby is the Meadowhall shopping centre where you can access a wide range of shops and facilities.
There are several recreational facilities in the area, including Wincobank Recreation Ground, Steel City Play Area, Concord park, Sports centre and Golf course

Transport

There are a large number of buses that serve the Wincobank estate. Many of these run every 15 minutes to Sheffield city centre and Meadowhall. There is a less frequent bus service to Hillsborough. These tend to be less frequent in the Castledine and Lower Wincobank area.
