Sheffield Homes is committed to giving customers a real say in their housing service. Involvement means that tenants and residents can be involved in shaping the decisions that affect them, their homes and their community.
We provide a wide range of ways to get involved – you can do as little or as much as you want.
Community Engagement
Community engagement means working with whole communities as well as tenants and challenges us to work in a more creative way on issues that matter.
- Builds on the excellent work delivered by tenant representatives
- Encourages people to develop solutions as well as identifying problems and priorities
- Focuses on securing commitment from the start so that action, projects and schemes are more likely to succeed and be sustained.
Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs)
Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs) work with Sheffield Homes on issues they are concerned about. They also organise activities to improve their area or estate. Becoming a member of your local TARA will help give you a voice in key decisions that affect housing services where you live.

Estate Walkabouts
Estate Walkabouts are designed to ensure that our customers are involved in monitoring performance and determining service priorities.
You can join a ‘walkabout" in your area and get involved in improving services on your estate. You can work with Sheffield Homes officers, tenants and other service providers by going on an estate walkabout with an estate services monitoring group and recommend priorities for improving the environment of your estates.
