Sheffield Homes North Area

Paul Voyse Area Manager
Welcome to the part of our website dedicated to providing information and news to tenants and residents living in the North of Sheffield. This includes the communities of Chapeltown, Ecclesfield, Foxhill, Grenoside, High Green, Longley, Longley Hall Farm, Lytton Court, Parson Cross, Southey, Shirecliffe, and Thorpe Hesley.

The area housing offices located in North Sheffield are Chapeltown First Point and Wordsworth Avenue.

Our aim is to

  • Provide housing services which are responsive to your needs
  • Provide clear information about our services and standards
  • Provide a courteous and helpful service at all times
  • Provide equal access to all our customers for all our services
  • Ensure that you can comment or complain about our service
  • Act promptly if our service does not come up to standard
  • Ensure your views are heard when Sheffield Homes makes decisions which affect your housing service
  • to commit ourselves to the Board of Director's "Mission, Vision & Values" statement

The North Area manages the landlord services to approx 9500 properties on behalf of Sheffield City Council.

The focal points of local services are the tenants, leaseholders and residents on 15 estates with the core of our activities being customer services, home finding, rent collection and recovery, responsive repairs, planned maintenance, void management, estate management, grounds maintenance, future investments, neighbour relations, residents participation and a First Point facility providing access to a wide range of Council (new window) and JobCentrePlus (new window) services.

The area shares boundaries with both Barnsley and Rotherham District Councils.  Approximately a quarter of the housing in the area is owned and managed by the Council.

Over the last 10 years there has been a good deal of investment in the Council owned homes, generally through external refurbishment at Ecclesfield, High Green, Grenoside and, more recently Parson Cross.

Most council estates in the Area are popular, with stable populations and a slow turnover of properties.  Overall, unemployment in the Area is below the city average, but there are pockets of high unemployment on some estates.
