HOSCARS - 2008
Healthy Cross held their "Healthy Owlerton & Southey Community Action Rewards" (HOSCARS) awards event on Saturday 1st March 2008 at Sheffield Wednesday's football ground, Hillsborough.
There was the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities including Jive dancing, Tai-Chi and Circus skills. You could also treat yourself to an Indian head massage.
The event was in aid of individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to improving health and well-being in the area.
Kerry said, " It was a very good day indeed. We had a busy day answering our tenants' queries."
Healthy Cross
- Healthy Cross is a small Community Development and Health Organisation run by a voluntary Management Committee of local residents and workers.
- Starting initially in Parson Cross, the Project now covers all the Southey and Owlerton SRB5 area which includes Parson Cross, New Parson Cross, Foxhill, Southey Green, Longley, Shirecliffe, Owlerton, Firth Park, Brightside, Shiregreen and Winn Gardens.
- It has worked from various bases around Parson Cross since 1991.
- Healthy Cross Community Project operates on the basis that local people are the experts in knowing what their community needs and that the need to feel good in yourself is as important as having or not having an illness.
