At the Sheffield Homes-run First Point in Hillsborough you can apply for housing, report a repair – and weigh your baby too!

Hundreds of tiny tots have already visited the weekly well baby clinic, since opening in March 2006 in partnership with the Sheffield West NHS Primary Care Trust.   A team of health visitors are on hand every Tuesday from 1.00pm - 2.30pm to weigh babies and provide advice and information to local parents.  The clinic often see up to 40 babies in one afternoon.

First Point offered to host the new service when local health visitors were looking for a central, convenient venue that allowed parents with children to access other community services.

Kev Hewitt, Housing Co-ordinator with Sheffield Homes, said: “The clinic has been very successful and we’re delighted that we could work in partnership with the Primary Care Trust to provide this service.  We were able to offer an ideal venue for the clinic as we’re a community-based office that already provides a wide range of services.

“As a one-stop shop that aims to make things as convenient as possible for our customers, hosting the well baby clinic seemed a natural progression.”

Sheffield Homes run the First Point service on behalf of Sheffield City Council, a partnership scheme that has proved hugely successful.

Customers can access a wide range of council services at First Points, including Sheffield Homes services, parking badges for disabled people, information on schools and care services.

Based in a fully accessible buildings, First Points provide baby changing facilities, a loop system for those with hearing impairments and free Internet access.
